Does growing up mean I have to stop enjoying life?

What we need to understand as Christians is that God desires us to grow up. He wants us to embrace this next step of life. When we're childish, as St Paul says, when I was a child, I thought like a child, I acted like a child, now that I am a man, I put childish ways behind me. So there is a place in life for playing, not having responsibility, having fun, living kind of carefree, and that kind of existence. And there are aspects of that that we can actually keep into adulthood when we're rightly connected with God. We can still live in the present moment. We can still live carefree. We can remember the Lord's prayer and remember that we are to rely on our heavenly father, or the words of Christ in the gospel, that ye must become like little children. This does not mean shirking responsibility. This means embracing adulthood and responsibility, commitment, faithfulness, having children. All of these things are part of the good aspects of adulthood. But we can do it connected with God. If we do it connected with God, then we retain a lot of that wonderfulness that comes from our childhood while still having the responsibilities and the attitude of a mature adult, without the baggage of childhood, acting frivolous, being driven by emotion, being driven by short-term goals influencing our life. That's so many times what I observe with men, which is they make so many short-term decisions because they never matured out of childhood. They think everything in life is just for instant feedback or instant satisfaction or gratification. And when they do that, they don't attain to anything great, because they're always looking for the immediate fix. Adulthood is long-term decisions that are oftentimes very hard and challenging, that build character, but for long-term goals. Without that, we remain juvenile.
