How do I stop my thoughts from spiraling?
Last but not least, the thoughtnado. What is the thoughtnado? It's the thought that spurs another thought that spurs another thought that spurs another thought. As those thoughts start to build on each other and we begin to think what's wrong, or how we've been wronged, or whatever else, we begin to spin and spin and spin and spin. And oftentimes people won't even realize that they're in a thoughtnado until they watch a video on this, and then they'll comment and they'll say, Father, I was in a thoughtnado the other day for 30 minutes. I was dwelling on something from the past, I was dwelling on something that was going to happen, I wasn't sure about this or that or the other. The reality is, the calmest place to be in a tornado is right in the center, in the eye of the storm. That's where you'll find peace. So what do you do? Rather than freaking out about being in a tornado and spinning around and not sure what's happening, getting discombobulated, you have to ground yourself right in the middle. Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me.
