Manhood

What does real masculinity look like day to day?

Brothers, this is the real masculinity. Those who do things that are showy for the sake of building up their own ego, to prove that they're better than other men, this is not real masculinity. Those who quietly serve the people around them, who love them, who struggle and strive to provide for their family, who love their wives and are patient, and love their children and are patient with their children, and do these normal tasks in a way that is not self-serving, these are truly violent men, because they absolutely crush the evil within their own heart in order to cultivate the good that God wants to bring forth in their life. If we live like this in imitation of the saints, then we are fulfilling what Christ said in the gospels. We are not giving over to the pseudo masculinity of this world, but to the true masculinity in Christ. Meekness, humility, kindness, love, forgiveness, gentleness, calmness. All of these things are strengths, because they're so hard to cultivate. They are so hard to embrace for us. They absolutely crush us, but they don't crush us in a way that destroys us, or we become a fake version. They crush us in a way that they get rid of all of the things that we're not supposed to be, so that we can become exactly who it is that God wants us to be as men. When we live like this, brothers, and we are embracing the words of the gospel, emulating the saints, we are bringing forth the kingdom of heaven on earth.
