Apologetics
Can I just read the Bible and interpret it for myself?
Well, anyone can do anything. Should we? The reason that we have some twenty thousand plus denominations, some say it's even more than that, in the United States, is the byproduct of people interpreting the Bible for themselves. The problem with this interpretation question is you have only two logical problems. Number one problem is the Holy Spirit cannot convey to us what is the truth, or number two, God refuses to reveal the truth to us. Both of these would suggest that there's some limitation in God, or that God is a God of confusion, which the scripture says God is not a God of confusion. So all of the confusion in the denominations is a byproduct of a lack of listening to the Holy Spirit. And this happens because of egotism, and because people are outside the church and they want to interpret for their own self.
