Is it vain to work out just to look good for my spouse?

It's good. It's healthy and normal. When we talk about being a physique boy, we're talking about taking your shirt off, taking photographs, flexing on Instagram, taking photos that essentially other men are looking at. Or if you're a man who's married, taking photos that, what are you hoping, other women that are not your wife are going to look at? All of that is bizarre behavior. But within the context of marriage, of course we should look good for our spouse. We should take care of ourselves. That's totally healthy and normal. Really what we're talking about is, should we be physically healthy if we're married? The answer to that is yes, we should be physically healthy. That is important for both genders, that we are physically healthy and taking care of ourselves. So that's important within marriage. There's no two ways about it. So as long as you're doing it for your spouse and not for people who are not your spouse. That's where it becomes a problem. Sometimes I see these guys and they're trying to get a six-pack and all these other things, spending all this time counting calories and doing all this stuff to get a six-pack. It's like, who are you getting a six-pack for? Your wife doesn't care. Your wife just wants you to be physically fit and healthy and normal. But if it gets to the point where your physique goals are interfering with the life of the family, like you can't eat what your wife cooked, or your child makes cookies and you can't eat the cookies because you're dieting, that's bizarre behavior. If you're trying to attain to some kind of physique for yourself, that is weird.
