Should I be afraid of death?
Our energy should really be towards cultivating ourselves spiritually, to giving alms, to being generous, to taking care of the poor, and not paying as much attention to our food, our diet, ourselves. And all of that is a foretaste and a remembrance of the judgment that we will one day face. This is a real call to sobriety, when we hear the call of the judgment, when we see that these things are eternal, that we only have so much time on this earth, that we are all going to die. It is one of the facts that we never avoid in church, that everyone is going to die and we have no idea when it's going to happen, and that we are not afraid of it in any way, shape, or form, because Christ has destroyed death. So for those of us in the church, we are in expectation of our death, marching towards it with great fervor and joy.
