Why do I keep replaying the past and worrying about the future?

But we refuse to stay in the moment and in the present. I often say the devil takes us two places, into the future and into the past, because neither one of those is changeable in a sense. We can't go to the future and know what's going to happen, and we can't go to the past and rewrite history. But he gets us out of the present moment where we're able to pray. See, man was created to exist in this ever present reality with God forever, in this kind of eternal moment which is right now. Not in some weird new age way, but in a real way of being connected to God through prayer. The Jesus Prayer. The mind being focused on Christ. When we're in the present moment, we have nowhere else to go. And yet our thoughts tell us to go everywhere. Replay yesterday's conversation. Replay a thought or memory from five years ago, or an argument that we had the night before. Or, well, what will happen if this doesn't work out? And then if that doesn't work out, then would this work or not work out? We're always projecting all over the place, but we're not really firmly rooted in the moment and in the present.
