Why am I so burned out?

My spiritual mother was often fond of telling me: burnout is a sign of a lack of reliance upon God. When we feel burned out, when we feel tired and exhausted and feel like we cannot go on, this is a sign that we are not receiving our spiritual nourishment, we are not receiving enough grace from God. Because when man has this grace of the Holy Spirit living and dwelling within him, it nourishes him to the utmost. It does not matter the circumstances of life. Saint Nikolai Velimirovich, the modern-day Serbian saint, was in the Nazi concentration camp of Dachau. Terrible atrocities went on there, and yet later on in his life, when people would talk to him about this, he said, I would give up everything right now to go back and be in Dachau for even five minutes. He said, when I was in Dachau, I could so acutely feel the presence of God. This is what we need in life. So often we say, oh, I need this, I need a new phone, I need a new job, these different temptations that assail us. I need new things, I need new people in my life. When the reality is, I really need the Holy Spirit, and I don't have enough of him in my life, enough of him in my soul. All of our struggles can be summarized by this fact. All of them. I should say almost all of them, but I cannot think of a single struggle in our life that cannot be overcome or mitigated by the presence of the Holy Spirit.
