Why can't I stop condemning myself even after I repent?

Self-condemnation has a lot to do with pride. That's just the reality. When people come to confession and they beat themselves up, it's like they're disappointed in themselves. It doesn't have to do with God. It isn't real repentance. Real repentance has to do with God being the center of our existence. And when we do something to offend him, we simply repent, ask forgiveness, because that's all he requires of us. He doesn't require us to jump through psychological hoops or apologize to him thirty times. Self-condemnation is veiled humility. It's not real humility. It's like pseudo humility, I should say. It has more to do with ego and pride and less to do with God himself.
